This FWD vehicle is on the A-list for popular, safe, and fun sedans in 2018, with both drivers and passengers clearly in its designer's minds. It has convenient specifications like an option for a Hands-Free Smart Trunk with Auto Open, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the latest safety tech, as well as more total interior volume than any vehicle in its class: 122.4 cu-ft. It also has a Hybrid model variant, look for that if you want to conserve even more fuel! Let's get into why you should consider the Sonata in 2018!

Packages Available:
So that you're in the know, there are currently four packages available for this incredibly high-scoring 5-seat sedan. The two packages available on the Limited model are the Tech Package and the Ultimate Package. The Ultimate Package will add items like a 10-speaker audio system by Infinity, real time HERE HD Traffic, and a panoramic sunroof, while the Tech Package installs a suite of safety assistive technologies and a sport mesh grille & matching front fascia. On the SEL model, there is a Tech Package as well, which puts on Lane Keep Assist, Smart Cruise Control with stop/start capability, and AEB Pedestrian Detection, among other items. Moving to the Sport+ model, its Tech Package adds the same items as the SEL models, which includes Smart Cruise Control with stop/start capability, and an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) with Automatic Vehicle Hold. Let's go over each model and their features so that you can make some smart decisions about which Sonata you want the most!

MODEL: SE
With a 185-hp/178 lb-ft of torque 2.4L 4-cylinder engine and a standard 6-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC, Drive Mode Select, a unibody construction of high-tensile steel, and 16-inch alloy wheels with 205/65R16 tires, the FWD SE model means business. It comes with a host of standard items on the exterior which makes it a valuable choice, such as automatic projector headlights, DRLs, dual fold-away (power & bodycolor) side mirrors, solar control glass, a shark-fin antenna, and a chrome-tipped single exhaust. On the inside, standard items include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Bluetooth, 6-speakers, a 7-inch touchscreen in color, 60/40 split-folding rear seat, and power windows and door locks. This model is rated by the EPA at 25/36/29 mpg city/highway/combined.

MODEL: Eco
The Eco model starts things off right with a 1.6L inline 4-cylinder twin-scroll turbo engine that gets 178-hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, partnered up to a 7-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission with SHIFTRONIC. This model incorporates MacPherson Strut with coil springs on the front, power 4-wheel disc brakes, a brake light mounted high and center, some metallic grain appearance accents, and parallels the SE model almost exactly. Where you will see a difference is in the fuel economy, which is city/highway/combined 28/37/31.

MODEL: SEL
The SEL model shares the same 2.4L engine and 6-speed automatic transmission as the Se model but ups the wheel size to 17-inch alloys with 215/55R17 tires. It also installs items like Proximity Key entry with push button start, a hands-free smart trunk, heated fold-away power door mirrors with turn signals, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, HD Radio, and a 10-way power driver seat with power adjustable lumbar support-all as standard.

MODEL: Sport+
The 2.4-liter with the 6-speed is also in the Sport+ model, and this one adds in sporty accommodations like steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, a leather-wrapped sport shift knob and D-cut steering wheel that's also heated, and sport seats! It also rocks the looks with 3D tech appearance accents, aluminum pedals, and the same 17" wheels as the SEL.

MODEL: Limited
This model continues the 2.4-liter inline-4 engine/6-speed automatic transmission powertrain buddy system, and then throws in a ton of brilliantly sumptuous amenities and standard functionalities, like LED taillights and headlights, the power tilt-and-slide sunroof, Auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink and compass, leather seats, an Integrated Memory System for the side mirrors and driver's seat position, ventilated front seats, and door sill plates at a first-rate gradation. Of note is that it opens the door for the first time in the lineup for some optional equipment, like the Infinity AM/FM/SiriusXM/MP3 ten-speaker premium sound system (has subwoofer & 400W), 8-inch touchscreen navigation, a panoramic sunroof, a heated steering wheel, and even rear side window sunshades!

MODEL: Limited 2.0T
This top-tier model brings in, as the name states, the 2.0-liter Twin-scroll Turbo engine that sees 245-hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine gets an exclusive 8-speed automatic transmission with SHIFTRONIC, while the model overall benefits from standard items such as steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters, its own sport-tuned steering & suspension, a dual exhaust tipped in chrome, rack-mounted & motor-driven power steering, not to mention 18-inch alloy wheels with 235/45R18 tires. Inside, the standard additional amenities are popular, like sport seats with leather, the Infinity sound system, 8-inch touchscreen navigation, and the Blue Link Guidance Package (3-year free service).

Regarding Safety Features:
The 2018 Sonata comes standard across all models with Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-traffic Alert & Lane Change Assist, a rearview camera, a Vehicle Stability Management system, ABS, a TPMS alert that tunes into each tire separately, LATCH in the rear seats, a Remote keyless entry system with alarm, a plethora of advanced airbags, an energy-absorbing steering column, and more. On the optional or model-dependent system, there is Automatic High Beam Assist, Headlights with Dynamic Bending Light (DBL) technology, Lane Departure Warning, and rear parking sensors.
