Trim Levels of the 2018 Hyundai Elantra

The 2018 Hyundai Elantra is a comprehensive sedan option that offers a well rounded standard of included features and packages to enhance the everyday.  And the interior is spacious! While the build of the vehicle is designed with the dimensions of a compact sedan, the 110.2 cubic-feet of passenger volume qualifies this car to be considered among midsized competitors.  Trunk space comes with 14.4 cubic-feet of cargo capacity. The exterior comes in nine colors, from modest white, silver, beige, grey, and black to more flashy electric blue, lake blue, and red. The six trim types have leaps and bounds of included features to add the perfect touch of luxury and convenience to your life.  Whether you're looking for a faithful commuter car with quality peace of mind safety and build, an environmentally minded vehicle that can go a week or more between fill ups, or a sports focused get-up-and-go thriller that matches class with performance, the Elantra has options to suit your specific shopping list.

The 2018 Elantra SE is the base model, starting at an MSRP of $16,950 for six-speed manual and $17,950 for optional six-speed automatic.  These drivetrains come paired with the base 2.0-liter inline four-cylinder engine, supplying 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque. The list of standard features creates a comfortable driving experience with enough knick knacks to make the Elantra feel sufficiently modernized with convenience features.  Controls are built with a driver-centric angular design, with the AM/FM/MP3 radio over the climate control. USB and AUX jacks come standard, connecting with the six-speaker audio system. A Connectivity Package is available for those who wish to add a seven-inch touchscreen audio display and wheel-mounted audio, Bluetooth, and cruise control buttons.  A rear backup camera also comes with this package, along with automatic headlights. The six-way manually adjusted seats are wrapped with premium black, grey, or beige cloth. Rear seats are divided 60/40 with center armrest foldout. The body builds presents just enough flare to stand out from its price tag. An athletic, sporty stance on its 15-inch wheels, front wheel air curtains mirroring the grille's hexagonal design, and built in rear spoiler creates a silhouette of refined class with just enough of a touch of bold excitement.

The Connectivity Package becomes standard within the Elantra SEL, bumping the price up to an MSRP $18,850.  The automatic six-speed transmission also becomes standard, along with four disc antilock brakes (rather than the SE's front discs and rear drum brake design) and specialized driving modes for specific performance outputs: Normal, Eco, or Sport.  The SEL also gets some basic Driver Assist features, such as Blind Spot Detection and Cross-Traffic Alerts. Mirrors become heated and the hood becomes insulated to deal with wintery weather

Value Edition

As the name suggests, the Elantra Value Edition maximizes the functionality of features for its MSRP $19,850 price tag.  Front seats become fantastically heated, and adding to the interior comfort of driver and passengers, the climate control is upgraded to dual-zone personalization.  The audio system gets an available subscription to SiriusXM, with a three-month trial period. Looks become more refined inside and out: the interior adds leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, ambient light touches with an illuminated ignition port, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, and door handle approach lights, as well as the standard power sunroof.

Appealing to those who want a fantastic boost in economy and driving range, the 2018 Elantra Eco's MSRP $20,550 value specializes the powertrain performance with a whole new engine and drivetrain. 32/40 city/highway miles per gallon makes for some easy cruising and a little bit of a break at the gas pump.  The engine upgrades to the 1.6-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder, coming paired with the specialized seven-speed EcoShift Dual Clutch Transmission for smoother gear changes. The build also upgrades from the base Multi-Point fuel Injection to a Direct Inject fuel system. Otherwise, standard offered features are the same as the Value Edition but for the sunroof, no longer included.

The $21,800 2018 Elantra Sport takes the same engine but tweaks it instead to a 1.6-liter displacement to churn out the most horsepower and torque you can get with the Elantra.  201hp and 195 lb-ft of torque will make the more thrill minded among us happy, as will the return of the six-speed manual transmission for ultimate personalized handling. The Eco's seven-speed automatic is offered for $22,900.  The Sport gets further specialized systems when looking to the suspension, with a rear multi-link independent and front sport-tuned suspensions with a 15mm rear stabilizer bar. The concentrated power is mirrored in the Sport-only 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels, chrome beltline molding, sport grille and fascia design, side sill extensions, and rear sport fascia with diffuser element, creating a more athletic stance that looks ready to take off at any second.  On the inside, bucket seats upholstered in leather, leather sport steering wheel and unique shift knob design,a more encompassing instrument gauge cluster showcasing real-time performance stats makes you feel right at home in a cockpit built for speed. A Premium Package is available for those who want an additional boost of luxury, including navigation, an eight-inch touchscreen, advanced Infinity Audio system with eight speakers and subwoofer, Clari-Fi Music Restoration Technology, dual automatic temperature control, and three year subscription to Blue Link SOS maintenance and guidance service.

The 2018 Elantra Limited, priced at $22,100, packs luxurious elements within nigh every aspect of the vehicle's build.  It returns to the base engine with six-speed automatic transmission. Chrome accents are added to the grille, beltline molding, and 17-inch wheels.  Headlamps, fog lights, and rear taillights are updated to bright, efficient LEDs, and come with Dynamic Front Bending Light, which curve the direction of illumination depending on the speed and angle of the car's trajectory.  Leather seats gain power adjustments with lumbar support, heating standard. Leather also coats the door rests and center storage surface. Blue Link is also added within the vehicle's system. From there, drivers can tailor additional features to suit the level of upscale classiness they want within their Hyundai Elantra.  The Ultimate Package is available to add navigation with eight-inch touchscreen, Infinity Audio system with center channel and subwoofer, Clari-Fi Music Restoration Technology, power sunroof, heated rear seats, automatic high beams, and a whole host of driver assist features (Automatic Emergency Braking, Pedestrian Detection, Smart Cruise Control, and LaneKeep Assist).
