  • I love my new Hyundai Santa Fe

By Alfaguzziboy on Friday, January 11, 2019

This SUV does everything so well and I believe is an amazing value. I traded in a 2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia that was a great car but had small irritating things it did not do well. The Santa Fe has a quickly responding high quality rear view camera. A rear hatch that I don't have to wave my foot under like a fool as on my Explorer to open when my arms are full. The Android Auto works flawlessly. I get in and feel my body relax. It is plenty fast with the 2.0 Turbo. I would not recommend the non turbo as it is a bit too sluggish. I even think it is one of the best looking SUVs now. Interior is just fine as far as quality of materials, especially compared to the 2018. Good job Hyundai. Gam Sam Ham Nida....
  • Very satisfied 1st time Santa Fe owner

    By SEMN_ham on Wednesday, January 09, 2019

We've owned our new Santa Fe Limited AWD 2.4 since late Oct 2018. We needed an AWD vehicle to get through difficult winter roads conditions living on a curvy hilly road in the MN woods plus other midwest winter family visits. We owned 2 Jeep Grand Cherokees in the past 18 years but no longer tow anything more than a wood chipper and never took them off roading, so a FWD based SUV with intelligent AWD is OK. My wife wanted heated real leather seats, a power liftgate & a power passenger seat, while I wanted Android auto. And as we age new safety features (blind spot, fwd/rear collision, lane assist) were requirements along with excellent headlights. The Santa Fe Limited met & exceeded all our main requirements, we are very satisfied after 1200 mi just shy of 3 mons and some icy/snowy driving. Will put *** between paragraphs since KBB pulls together. ***** Other drives and competition: I drove both a SF SEL+ and Limited Turbo, but favored the Limited features especially IIHS highly rated LED headlights. I did not need the turbo (not need for daily hills or towing) so that along with a $1600 price difference and more maintenance convinced me the standard 2.4L 4 cylinder would do just fine in midwestern flat land with mostly 2 passengers. It's not a racer but has done fine with 5 large adults in the car; switch to Sport mode if you need shorter geared punch! We also favored the SF againts Mazda CX-5, Subi Outback, Jeep Cherokee, 2018 Toyo RAV4 (the 2019s are just out in early 2019, may have been more competitive). Did not try Honda CRV due to gas in oil problems. ***** Santa Fe Limited PROS ***QUIET comfortable roomy interior w/excellent infotainment. Lot of front/rear room for tall folk! ***Safety features easy to use. Auto stop at lights kinda weird but ok so far, quick restart. ***Like the easy to switch Smart mode, Comfort (ECO) mode, Sport mode which is plenty sporty on this smooth 8 speed tranny, 50% power to rear too but MPGs not good of course. ***4WD lock operational up to 40mph in 2019s, good for northern winters! ***LED headlights have excellent range & IIHS ratings, auto mode works fine on 2 lane roads ***LOTs of hidden storage in rear under carpet (we got the hatch cover unfortunately it costs extra) ***Hyundai warranty is the best but do follow service manual! ***Consumer reports positive review plus Hyundai as a brand is 10 of 29 so in top ⅓ but not as good as Toyota or Mazda ***Remote start & car status free with Hyundai internet control for 3+ years, works great. *****Santa Fe Limited QUESTIONABLES ***Jury is out on this 4 cylinder and the 8 speed tranny is excellent. Still 185 hp for a 3600 lb SUV, but compare to 235 hp for my 4600 lb Jeeps the lb/hp is the same, just not torque? Our dealer sells 90% of these in flat midwest but buy the turbo if in doubt. ***MPG so far 22 around town which is great for this size vehicle compared to 14mpg in V8 Jeeps, but not stellar. Did get close to 30mpg on 70mph freeway drive. ***RELIABILITY in an initial review is crazy to review. NO PROBLEMS in mfg or initial delivery. Won't know long term reliability until 2021 & later. There's been a recall (not for me) on airbag bolts, I have a engine software update not recall, but no problems so not rushing into it.
  • Best bang for your money

Hyundai Santa Fe is the king of safety features. It's stylish comfortable and reliable. It's actually fun to drive lots of room for kids in the back and a great bang for your money.
